Leaving my husband at the Steele House was one of the hardest
things I have ever done. A part of me never expected to see him
again. A part of me had already given up. I was tired and broken
down and this was our last chance. Then an amazing thing happened,
it started to work. My husband had the time, the space, and the
support he needed to get better. The staff not only helped him
but they also helped me. I knew that I could call on Jen anytime
I needed support and advice. As my husband did better and better,
for longer and longer, I realized that through his hard work and
their guidance I had gotten my future back. It really is impossible
to describe what that feels like, to get back something so important
which seemed so lost. -kb
The Steele House was a great program. It opened
my eyes to living sober and being a productive member of society.
Dr. Otis was great; he led the best therapeutic groups I have ever
been in. The Program helped my relationship and re-build my level
of trust with my family. It's a great environment; very friendly.
Staff is really willing to work with you and are very accommodating.
This Program helped me get my life back on track. -PB
While my loved one was at The Steele House, it was
so re-assuring to know that he was learning things necessary to
remain sober. The drug tests were vital because they confirmed
what I had hoped - that he was really sober. I want to thank The
Steele House and let everyone know what a great program it is.

When I came to the Steele House I was in complete shambles. After
a one month bender on meth, I had lost my job, my family relationships
were ruined, and I hated myself. I was angry at my family, the
church of my upbringing, and especially myself.
During my time at the Steele House, I was taught how to gain a
relationship with my Higher Power and to let go of the resentments
that were eating me up inside and leading me to use drugs. I now
have a much improved relationship with my family, friends, God
and myself. The staff at Alpine Recovery Services was very patient
and attentive to my needs. I was especially impressed with their
tolerance of individuals from many different backgrounds. Having
the opportunity to be employed while in treatment gave me the opportunity
to learn how to cope in the real world. I would recommend Alpine
Treatment Recovery Services to anyone seeking a recovery program
based on trust and one that emphasizes the teaching of coping skills
through actual real life experiences.

We found ourselves
anxious about our options for our son, who had struggled with drug
and alcohol addiction for years. We wanted a program that did not
drain us financially, while still providing the treatment services,
and level of care, that he needed. We decided to follow his counselor's
suggestion of a 90-day stay at The Steele House. Again, we had
many choices, but we felt extremely "guided" in
finding The Steele House, a recovery home for men and part of the
Makin Treatment Services. We drove straight there and were welcomed
warmly by Jen Makin, Director of Programming. The homey, comfortable
home was inviting and we felt a good spirit and knew this was our
choice. Our son quickly felt at ease in his new home. They guided
him through the employment process and shuttled him where he needed
to be and when. He is now working full time and is developing new
habits and routines essential to his recovery thanks to the structured
living environment provided by The Steele House.
The sincere care and concern shown by Justin and Jen to each individual,
as well as the house as a group, is tireless and quite remarkable.
The effort they and their impressive staff put forth is truly helping
our son to understand the nature of his problem and helping him lay
the foundation for a better life. For that we could not be more grateful.
Sincerely,
John & Suzanne |
