OUR STORY
ALPINE TREATMENT SERVICES was founded in December 2007 by Justin
and Jen Makin. The name was originally Makin Homes. Their vision
was to create an affordable and dynamic program available to everyone.
Justin had worked at various treatment centers for over ten years.
During his time at these centers, he noticed the need for more
family education, better patient successes, and more affordable
care thus alleviating added stress and frustration on families.
Justin meditated and pondered, and with all that he learned, both
positive and negative during his previous work experience, he decided
to create and develop his own program, Makin Homes.
“What I noticed was that individuals were
graduating from a treatment center and were left to their own
devises, with no continued support. Although many of these centers
offered a lifetime aftercare component this particular type of
care, I noticed, wasn’t right for everyone. I realized that clients
needed some sort of supervision and support in a real world environment
before returning to their previous living situations. Families
were finding themselves right back to where they started. Something
more was needed.“ Justin Makin,
Executive Director
The Joshua House was
founded first. It was a home like transitional care facility
exclusively for women that offered a gentle and inspiring program
that afforded women the opportunity to prove to themselves, as
well as to others, that they wanted to remain sober.
"What I found was that many times, because of heavy drug
and alcohol use, individuals were not able to maintain employment
or healthy relationships with loved ones for any length of time.
What I have realized was that someone learning WHY they continue
to use is completely separate from them figuring out HOW to truly
live again“ Justin Makin
A second house, The Steele
House, was opened for men. Alpine Treatment Services
is able to offer an innovate, results-based, comprehensive approach,
all through one program. Alpine Treatment offers a dynamic approach
at addiction recovery, including The Joshua House and The Steele
House, transitional care homes for men and women while continuing
with care into sober tracking.
Shortly upon opening its doors, Jake Shoff was brought on board.
His business expertise, as well as his own personal experience
with losing a loved one tragically due to addiction, was a sure
fit for ALPINE TREATMENT SERVICES.
"I have seen people come to our program broken, down-trodden,
and hopeless. I believe in what we do; I know for sure that this
program is built upon inspiration and integrity. I have been honored
to be a part of this project and I still become excited when I
see someone turn their life around and choose for themselves a
better path.“ – Jake Shoff, Director of Operations
At ALPINE TREATMENT SERVICES, we understand how sacred and sensitive
healing from addiction and alcoholism can be. We are committed
to offer the most effective, results-based program available.
"I found myself getting discouraged seeing people work
so hard, yet fall even harder once discharged from treatment.
Relapse is so prevalent, yet it doesn’t have to be inevitable.
We believe that individuals need to be afforded the opportunity
to be eased back into life and never feel alone. We are there
every step of the way to watch our clients reach every goal they
set, gain employment, and even re-establish relationships with
precious family members. It is remarkable to see.“ Justin Makin
